Texas Hill Country We are so fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful area of the country. While you are visiting The Old Oaks Ranch, we invite you to explore our home and some of its treasures. Wimberley Our home town of Wimberley offers tons of events, dozens of wonderful shops and a real treasure trove of treats. The first Saturday of each month the Lions host Market Days; Blue Hole is a fantastically beautiful place to see the clear water that the limestone of Central Texas filters and the newly opened Water Trail in downtown Wimberley invites you to a shady and relaxing stroll along the Blanco River and Cypress Creek. Antiquing the Texas Hill Country If you love to antique, you'll enjoy the 150 year old homes turned into shops in the small town of Comfort. Nearby Boerne is also filled with wonderful antique stores. For unique gift shopping as well as antiquing, try Gruene or Fredericksburg. Wildflowers and Nature Walks There are many different opportunities for enjoying the natural beauty of Central Texas. Enchanted Rock State Park is just outside of Fredericksburg where the walk is either gentle or ambitious and the views are grand and sweeping. The Cibolo Creek Nature Center in Boerne and the Riverside Nature Center in Kerrville will give you a closer look at native flora of the Hill Country. Stonewall offers The Wildflower Seed Farm (and wonderful peaches in the summer) and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center near Austin is just a 45 minute drive from the The Old Oaks Ranch. Hill Country Wineries Our central Texas wines are great for sipping and the wineries are usually situated in scenic spots with verandas for relaxing and enjoying the wine and the view. The wineries welcome visitors all year around but each winery has different times and days that they are open so be sure to check before you head out. The wine trails are especially festive and offer great opportunities to get together with friends for a road trip.
