Where: “Old Oaks Ranch”
When: Wednesdays, October 1 – November 19 from 4PM – 6PM
Class Description: Spend your Wednesdays after school learning about the ranch and all its critters – alpacas, working dogs, chickens and sheep. Design and create a Wind Chime. Be inspired by Old Oak’s Sculpture Garden Bronze Bell and sculpt your own in clay. Weave a wool bag and braid the strap. Felt assorted animal critters. We’ll end our camp session with a campfire and the tasty goodies that go along with it!
Prerequisites or Class Prep: Ages 9 – 12 (4 to 6 grade)
Class Level: Beginners
Fee: $225.00 + $40.00 materials fee

1) Learn from our ranch manager the history of alpacas from their original South American roots to the United States; physical attributes; care & feeding; and fiber characteristics.
2) In our Fiber Arts Center, feel the difference between wool and alpaca fibers. Learn to clean and card alpaca fiber for spinning. Learn to spin and take home your new yarn and alpaca information.

Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts, grades 6-12
Come enjoy an array of fibers and fiber arts, at the Old Oaks Ranch Fiber Arts Studio.
Expand your creativity and trendy fiber skills amidst color, texture, traditional and modern fiber arts. You will see the whole process of fiber to finish come alive from the Alpaca herd on the ranch, to the finished woven knitted or hooked product. Schedule the event for your troop or join in with another troop. Event date: Tuesday evenings by reservation (alternate days possible)

You are never to young to create beauty! Develop or sharpen your skills in weaving, collage, patchwork and embroidery. From the time you enter the beautiful grounds of the Alpaca Ranch to the time you leave the fiber arts studio, you will be exploring the process of fiber to finish.
