September Rug Hooking Project: Mr. Iggy (Rug Hooking Magazine - 2008)
When: Weds, Sept 1 and Weds, Oct 6 11AM-1PM
Class Description: This adorable Halloween decoration is a favorite among hookers. It is from a 2008 issue of Rug Hooking Magazine, created by Star Rug Co.This little wall hanging incorporates textured, solid and hand dyed wools for a lovely, primitive effect. I added velvet for my crow, to add an some “pop”. Get started with transferring your pattern (I’ll teach you an easy method), choosing a color plan and beginning to hook on Sept. 1. Then come back October 6 to continue working on your project and learn how to bind your rug. We also offer “open studio and a free Hooking circle later in October – just in time to complete your Halloween folk rug.
Prerequisites or Class Prep: Bring a quilting hoop and rug hook, or use our frames and hooks. These items are also available for purchase
Fee: $45 plus the cost of materials (linen and wool)

Miniature Rug Punch – “Punkin”
When: Wed. Oct. 20 11am-1pm
Class Description: Intrigued? Then come find out what the fuss is all about. This miniature rug punch class will get you hooked on this old and timeless decorative art form that actually looks like a wee hooked rug but is punched with loops forming on the underside. We use embroidery threads, a miniature punch needle and a locking embroidery hoop.
Prerequisites or Class Prep: Bring a 7” quilting locking hoop, and a miniature punch needle. Alternatively, you may purchase these here, but please let us know if you would like us to have these items for you on the day of class. They may need to be ordered.
Fee: $25 plus the cost of thread. (purchased from us: needle $20, hoop $8)

November Rug Hooking Project – Thanksgiving Turkey (Country Cupboard)
When: Wed. Nov. 3 and 17 11am-1pm
Class Description: This adorable Turkey rug is a great fall table or wall display, and can incorporate great colors and textures. Using a hand dyed or textured color palette, hooking the turkey body is really fun, plus the size is manageable to complete before Thanksgiving.

Beginning Rug Hooking
When: Second Wednesday of each month, September - MayFeb. 10, March 10, April 14 or May 12 11AM - 2PM
Class Description: Come see what the world of rug hooking is all about! You will enjoy learning about this North American folk craft. Designed for first-timers, this class is an introduction to the basics of primitive rug hooking: color, texture, methods, techniques, history, styles, and materials used in hooking. We will start by exploring the materials used in hooking, choosing a pattern, cutting our strips and move on to learning hooking techniques and establishing a color plan. Time at home for working on your first project will help you to become more comfortable and ready to continue at "open studio", just a few weeks away! Then join our hooking group for a free hook-in at the end of the month, where you can continue to work on your project or begin a new one.
Prerequisites or Class Prep: Supplies to Bring to Class: small quilting hoop, small fabric scissors and lots of enthusiasm! We have extra hooks and hoops available for use or purchase.
Class Level: beginner
Fee: $30 plus the cost of materials ($30-$50 depending on size of pattern)

Open Hooking Studio
When: Third Wednesday of each month, September - May 11AM - 2PM
Class Description: Open to all levels - come work on your project or choose a new one! Make the most out of time in the studio. Materials, cutter, publication and pattern library available for perusing, hooks and frames available.An excellent time for beginners to return for more hooking instruction!

Hook and Hoot (Monthly Hook In)
When: Last Wednesday of each month, September – May 11AM-2PM
Class Description: Gather for a morning of rug hooking in the studio. Bring a project to work on or choose a new one, exchange ideas, get help, and meet fellow rug hookers.
Prerequisites or Class Prep: No formal instruction, only shared ideas and camaraderie. Bring your lunch. We'll provide the coffee, tea and chocolate!
Class Level: All levels welcome
Fee: No reservations required, and no fee.

Private Lessons Rug Hooking or Punch Needle
When: (Call for lesson appointment)
Class Description: 1:1 private instruction (or bring a friend) to learn how to create rugs and wall hangings using the Oxford punch needle or rug hooking.This fun and creative 2 hour class covers the basics of Primitive or Punch needle hooking using a Primitive Rug Hook or 1/4 inch Oxford Punch Needle.
Prerequisites or Class Prep: Bring a large embroidery hoop/hooking frame and hook or purchase from Old Oaks Ranch.

Fee: $20 per hour (ongoing as desired), additional cost for materials.
